DMV requires students under the age of 18 to complete 14 periods of behind the wheel instruction with a certified instructor.  Our teen behind the wheel program is a 7 day course where the student drives for a period of 50 minutes then observes another student for a period of 50 minutes each day. On the 7th day of training, the student will be evaluated and if they successfully complete the evaluation they will be given an interim/temporary paper license. The 7 days are not required to be consecutive days.  DMV will notify the student when it is time to attend court to receive their permanent license. This notification is normally done within 6 months and is sent to the home of record listed at the DMV. To qualify for this course students must have already completed a 36 hour classroom or 30 hour online driver's education course.  Proof of successful course completion must be provided to the instructor to begin behind the wheel sessions.
